Andalucia is the southernmost province
of Spain with the Costa del Sol stretching
for over 100 miles and offering fine beaches
with a stunning mountain backdrop and nearly
300 days of sunshine a year. Andalucia is
well-served by golf courses, world famous
marinas and all types of leisure facilities
plus 600 kilometres of sandy beaches and
huge unspoiled natural areas with an extraordinary
range of flora and fauna.
The El Torcal park with its unusual rock
formations is one of the most impressive
limestone landscapes in Europe. These acres
of open ground plus the mild climate make
outdoor pursuits such as walking, riding
and mountain bicycling popular with locals
and visitors alike and these are well-catered
for throughout the area.
For an authentic taste of
rural life there are many delightful inland
villages to explore most are just a half
days drive from the coast. It is also likely
that whilst in Andalucia you will come across
a fiesta as over 3,000 such celebrations
take place each year including fairs, pilgrimages,
carnivals and mock battles. Nevertheless,
as in other areas of Spain the tradition
of watching the world go by from a pavement
cafe or tapas bar remains one of the most
popular ways to relax.
